Self Aid • Buddy Aid • Firearms Skills Course
Urban Carry Survival offers an intensive, reality-based training course designed for responsible armed citizens, concealed carriers, off-duty professionals, and first responders. This program emphasizes that surviving a violent encounter requires more than just basic firearms skills; it necessitates a comprehensive approach to urban survival training.
A critical incident can unfold without warning. In mere seconds, you may need to recognize a threat, make swift decisions under extreme pressure, effectively utilize your firearm, and then promptly shift to providing lifesaving self aid to yourself or others in need.
You could be your own first responder.
Urban Carry Survival effectively bridges the gap between defensive handgun skills and immediate trauma response. This firearms skills course combines foundational to intermediate-level firearms training with practical self aid training and buddy aid techniques. Students will engage in realistic skill development aimed at enhancing their ability to think clearly, act decisively, communicate effectively, and perform under rapidly changing circumstances.
This training is neither just a shooting class nor a standard first aid class. The goal of Urban Carry Survival is to cultivate a more competent and prepared citizen.
SELF AID & BUDDY AID
Severe bleeding can quickly escalate to life-threatening situations. During the self aid training component, students will learn essential equipment use, principles, and practical skills to recognize and respond to traumatic injuries while waiting for emergency medical personnel.
Training will cover critical skills such as tourniquet application, wound packing, bleeding control, pressure dressings, and basic injury assessments. Students will gain hands-on experience with commonly carried trauma gear, practicing the proper use of training tourniquets, pressure dressings, and hemostatic gauze.
A significant focus will be on performing these skills under stress and time constraints.
Students will practice self-aid techniques as well as aiding an injured partner. This course will also emphasize the importance of carrying the right medical equipment and developing the mindset to take immediate action when faced with a traumatic injury.
Training medical gear will be supplied for use during the class.
Students are encouraged to bring their own personal Self Aid or Individual First Aid Kit to effectively assess equipment placement, accessibility, and practical considerations.
FIREARMS SKILLS COURSE
The firearms skills course within Urban Carry Survival is specifically designed for individuals who possess basic handgun safety and manipulation skills and are ready to advance their defensive capabilities.
Students will begin by addressing defensive mindset and decision-making strategies before progressing to hands-on physical skills necessary for safely deploying and operating a handgun.
Training will include draw stroke and presentation, movement and shooting, multiple target engagements, and maintaining accuracy under increased pressure.
The focus is not just on shooting faster; rather, students will be challenged to enhance their ability to visually process information, make sound decisions, manipulate the handgun efficiently, and deliver accurate shots even under stressful conditions.
Throughout the firearms training, instructors will assess individual performance and address common inaccuracies in grip, presentation, trigger manipulation, visual processing, and unnecessary movement.
The ultimate objective is to help each student develop a more efficient and repeatable firing process that can be executed under less-than-ideal circumstances.
BRIDGING THE GAP
The reality of a violent encounter is that it doesn’t necessarily conclude when the initial threat is neutralized. You or someone nearby could still sustain injuries, and emergency personnel may be several minutes away.
Urban Carry Survival is structured around this reality. Students will be required to mentally transition among threat recognition, defensive action, movement, communication, injury assessment, and immediate lifesaving intervention.
This class reinforces the understanding that carrying a firearm is just one aspect of preparedness. A truly ready individual must also possess the knowledge and equipment necessary to address traumatic injuries and preserve life.
