Urban Carry Survival

Self Aid • Buddy Aid • Firearms Skills

Urban Carry Survival is an intensive, reality-based training course designed for responsible armed citizens, concealed carriers, off-duty professionals, and first responders who understand that surviving a violent encounter may require far more than simply knowing how to fire a handgun.

A critical incident can develop without warning. In a matter of seconds, you may be forced to recognize a threat, make decisions under extreme stress, effectively use a firearm, and then immediately transition from a defensive role to providing lifesaving aid to yourself or another person.

You may be your own first responder.

Urban Carry Survival bridges the gap between defensive handgun skills and immediate trauma response. The course combines high basic to intermediate-level firearms training with practical Self Aid and Buddy Aid techniques. Students will work through realistic skill development designed to improve their ability to think, act, communicate, and perform when the situation is rapidly changing.

This is not simply a shooting class and it is not a traditional first aid class. The purpose of Urban Carry Survival is to develop a more complete and capable prepared citizen.

SELF AID & BUDDY AID

Severe bleeding can quickly become life threatening. Students will be introduced to the equipment, principles, and practical skills necessary to recognize and respond to traumatic injuries while waiting for emergency medical personnel.

Training will include tourniquet application, wound packing, bleeding control, pressure dressings, and basic injury assessment. Students will learn how to properly access and deploy commonly carried trauma equipment and gain hands-on experience using training tourniquets, pressure dressings, and hemostatic gauze.

A major emphasis will be placed on performing these skills under stress and with limited time.

Students will practice providing aid to themselves as well as assisting an injured partner. The course will also address the importance of carrying appropriate medical equipment and developing the mindset necessary to immediately take action when a traumatic injury occurs.

Training medical gear will be supplied for use during the class.

Students are encouraged to bring their own personal Self Aid or Individual First Aid Kit so equipment placement, accessibility, and practical considerations can be evaluated.

FIREARMS SKILLS

The firearms portion of Urban Carry Survival is designed for shooters who already possess basic handgun safety and manipulation skills and are ready to develop more practical defensive capabilities.

Students will begin by addressing defensive mindset and decision making before moving into the physical skills necessary to efficiently deploy and operate a handgun.

Training will include draw stroke and presentation, movement and shooting, multiple target engagements, and maintaining accuracy while operating under increased pressure.

The focus is not simply on shooting faster.

Students will be challenged to improve their ability to visually process information, make decisions, efficiently manipulate the handgun, and deliver accurate fire when time and circumstances create stress.

Throughout the firearms training, instructors will evaluate individual performance and address common errors involving grip, presentation, trigger manipulation, visual processing, and unnecessary movement.

The goal is to help each student develop a more efficient and repeatable process that can be performed when conditions are less than ideal.

BRIDGING THE GAP

The reality of a violent encounter is that the event may not end when the threat stops.

You or someone with you may be injured.

Emergency personnel may still be minutes away.

Urban Carry Survival is designed around this reality.

Students will be required to mentally transition between threat recognition, defensive action, movement, communication, injury assessment, and immediate lifesaving intervention.

The class will reinforce the understanding that carrying a firearm creates only one capability. A truly prepared individual should also possess the knowledge and equipment necessary to address traumatic injuries and help preserve life.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is appropriate for responsible citizens, concealed carriers, off-duty professionals, and first responders who have established basic handgun skills and want to develop a broader set of practical survival capabilities.

Students should be familiar with the safe operation of their handgun and capable of safely drawing from a belt-mounted holster.

This is a high basic to intermediate-level firearms coursecombined with practical Self Aid and Buddy Aid training.
